The Argument

A DAY OFF FROM WORK:

I dominate food
And accentuate mood
With the option to breathe in some air free of sharing.
When oxygen turns to commodity worthy of guarding by sword,
I'm the one who gives caring.

GRAVY:

Hiatus from job
Would be meaningless glob
If I didn't supply so much cover for dullness.
When topping a biscuit, I'll draw you like deer to hibiscus and then
With a quickness mute fullness.

A DAY OFF FROM WORK:

The mornings you dread--
Plus the mourning in bed--
I can neutralize better than orgy of eating.
Engorging a grin with fortuitous trip can distract when the death
Of today is repeating.

GRAVY:

You must be employed,
For you cannot avoid
The productive identity screwed to essentia.
When limit to interlude keeps you imprisoned with odious oaf
I will drug the dementia.

  8. I enjoyed this, from the first line and especially down to the last..."I will drug the dementia." Your work is very good, your word choices are powerful and moving... I like your style.

  9. Jack,

I loved reading this poem; filled with crazy options and a feast of possible treats, if one wishes to succumb to the desire...A great treat with your words!!!
